a person should sleep p.m. to a.m.
Unfortunately I'm an a.m. to a.m. sleeper

Night Owl Lament

Two a.m. is looking at me
and wondering why once again
I am not lying in bed
inviting the Dream Weaver in
Last night it was one o'clock
who shood me from my thinking
announcing get-up time
would catch the stars winking
In the day I grog around
tired and slow of thought
but evening finds me wide awake
the daytime condition I'd sought
And so another go round
with the a.m. clock and me
how long will we duel this time
one-thirty, two or three?
Its entirely up to my brain
and whatever tangent it takes
I may start reading the Bible
then discover my mind's on cup cakes
Then back to my reading I'll go
with a quick glance at the time
and the news it reveals
tells me sleep won't be in this rhyme

When I can't sleep I read the computer manual or a thesaurus.
Usually this works although sometimes I still witness the sunrise.
I have no problem relating to this problem.
Sweet dreams, Nick
