The world cries aloud!

Shrieks of horror, sorrow, pain

permeating all walks of life

Though it be hunger, loneliness, frightening memories of longing for love,

tears lay upon every human heart

pumping its plight through the life of humanity

For every trembling hand that longs to reach out

we swat away those that dare

For every act of cruelty that is left unpunished

we live our lives telling ourselves it wasn’t our responsibility to help

As the cries increase 

rhythmically, reaching greater depths of depravity and cruelty

from our acts of neglect

we become ever more numb to our surroundings

Shutting ourselves out with painful, soothing, dazing, entrancing music

and any high we can find;

Sex, drugs, alcohol, love, pain, death

I wait in silence

for the world is tired of screams

and change will creep up in quiet acts of Love
