I dance

I dare not the looming shadows,
the debris of yesterday and all gone,
to follow me for too long.
I touch the clouds and dance
a brief minute in oblivion.

I've always liked dance metaphors--Yeats used those a lot. Shakespeare was always referring to life as a stage, but most of the time we're just dancing in the dark (as the pop singer Bruce Springstein phrased it). Liked the poem.
