These Dreams

The sun's on the horizon,
A new day has arrived.
I made through another night,
Lord knows how I survived.
You're not here with me,
Yet my heart's beating still.
Dreamed of you again last night,
I think I always will.

These dreams keep me going.
They do wonders for my heart.
They keep you so close to me
Even though we're far apart.

Time to take a shower,
Get ready for the day.
It's off to work I go again,
For I have bills to pay.
If I had my choice though,
I'd head straight to you.
We'd laugh and play the day away,
Such a special rendezvous.

These dreams keep me going.
They do wonders for my heart.
They keep you so close to me
Even though we're far apart.

One day soon, my darling,
I don't know how or when.
We'll finally be together.
Lord, I can't wait till then.
Until that day arrives, love,
These dreams will have to do.
Just know that here within my heart
There's a special place for you.

These dreams keep me going.
They do wonders for my heart.
They keep you so close to me
Even though we're far apart.

John Ashleigh
Absolutely amazing! The best poem I have read for a while. The rhyming is key - but the message you're portraying is so emotional. Both smiling, and reminising. Please, keep writing like this - I'm bookmarking and applauding.

Regards,
John.
