ahh...summer....

Beach

I am on a beach facing west
Watching an energetic surf toss spray
To softly haze the air enough to best
The sun to bathe us gently as we play.

Sand and salt pepper my skin and hair
So I count the waves once more before
I plunge into the world of bubbling airy
Brine that will tumbling laughingly restore
Me to some other part of the shore.

I may later swim in the moonlight
Memorise the silver shine...
Just now I am basking in sunbeams
Threading shells onto fishermans lines.

Very nicely written, Linda. I enjoyed where you took me, and the pleasant journey there.

argggggggggghhhhh! Where's the shovel! Perhaps I'll just leave the curtains closed and read this, over...and over...and over. Fine writing.
Thanks,
Nick

A warm read, as someone who was born near the sea, this is lovely, comforting, nostalgic and makes me yearn for the water. Your final stanza is heaven.

A warm poem in a very cold winter. This made me smile.

Your friend,

Simply lovely! Great word painting with the emotion of the moment tossed in for good measure. I to love Summer but its close second is Winter.
