I came across this from forty years ago, and wonder where that passionate man went who once made love in the ocean.

How I Learned To Swim

She was like the sea
Only deeper, her siren song
Sexual and irresistible
Needing no words

Unrelentingly seductive
Undulant and primal
Languorous and mystical
Her passion pulling me under

Inundating my senses
Drowning in her scent
As her opening body broke
On the bow of my hips

No, doesn't sound that long ago! (Not that I would be privy to such goings on, btw) but as for passion... there is much of that still reflected in more recent poems. The spirit is willing but the body does have a way of aging. We are privileged to catch a glimpse of your poetry from a different time and clime.

Lawrence Beck The PoetBay support member heart!
As Jim suggested, the passion may have cooled a bit, but the artist remains. I especially enjoyed the first four lines of this poem.

I grew up along the Pacific. It's not a good idea to try that sort of thing there.

Fantastic! Will comment further when the sweating subsides.

It is remarkable how the quality of your writing was as subtle, nuanced, and well formed as is it today.

I don't suppose that "passionate man" went anywhere. Time, however, moved on.

Wonderful poem. The last two lines, oh, I bet you'd like to turn back the clock for that moment.
