Sometimes I'm upset at an injustice, perceived or otherwise, but sometimes I'm too far away to help.

Do as you are told !

Does oppression need a bully ?
Does it need a dictator ?
Does it need an army ?
Violence ?
Force ?

Does it need only someone we love breaking our spirit ?
Does it need only someone in a position of perceived responsibility
to tell us we don't deserve that to which we should feel entitled ?
Being put down just once too often,
Feeling ignored,
Feeling powerless,
Less worthy ?

Be quiet, and don't rock the boat.

Do we stay quiet until our autobiography becomes our biography,
Or do we stand up for what is our right ?

Do we fight for what we believe, behind that banner we loved,
For which we fought with pride ?
Payment for our sacrifices.
Not a handout.
Not for charity.

Or do we just give in ?

Fade away ?
Go quietly ?

Where would we be if we gave in because it's too hard to push against the resistance,
Or if our forebears did ?

Are we still proud, or have we finally acquiesced ?

Did it really take us this long to find out that it wasn't worth it after all ?

Answers on an old post card, please.

Much food for thought and needed action wherever we can, however we can.
