Tilly

Tilly was a silly girl
She lived down by the wishing well
She lives her days in a dancing whirl
With the stories she would tell

Of happy children's faces
Singing across the sea
In far-off distant places
That only she could see

We shut our eyes and walked away
We left the world alone
We didn't hear what she had to say
We left her on her own

But the notes of Tilly's song
Came floating through our minds
And one by one we sang along
To the pictures we could find

So we stepped into the world again
Tilly led the way
She taught us how to feel the rain
She told us what to say

About the children's faces
And the stories that they tell
Of life in distant places
So we all joined in as well

Tilly was a silly girl
Who lived down by the wishing well
She spent her days in a country whirl
With the stories she would tell

About the children's faces
Singing across the sea
In far-off distant places
That even we can see
