TAKEN UP THE GARDAN PARTH PART TWO

Being given hope
Verging on expectations
Only to find
That you have been
Led to the garden
Gate
To the path that
Takes you back
To where you were
You began
Left with only ashes
In your mouth
To remind you
That all is an elision
Now you realize you
Were deluded to think
Otherwise
More fool you

It's better to recognise one has been taken for a walk up the garden path, then put it down to experience, onwards and upwards.

I'm not sure if hope leads to expectations, or expectations to hope . . . perhaps there is not one without the other. Expectations often go unrealized, but it would be a sadder life without the hope of them.
