If I listen will you talk about your world and if so, what will I understand in return?

If I Gave to You

If I gave to you
The colours of the day
If I said to you
The words I want to say
If I heard you
Let the story drift away

Would it matter?
If the dream will shatter
Like crystals on a starry night
Take the hope and make it bright
Shine it deep light your heart
Tie our dreams a world apart

If I gave to you
The wind across the sand
If I held for you
Your wishes in my hand
If I sang to you
Would we ever understand?

We are here together
Share the road forever
Footsteps in the sky
Where dreams of reason fly
We have been this way before
Read the sign upon the door

If I danced for you
To paint the morning light
If I sang to you
To make the moment right
If I cry for you
With wonder at the sight

Would you be there?
Would you really care?
Enough to learn the song
To feel that you belong
To everything you knew
When your world was new

There is a sense of unconditional love, and joy; gratitude in the giving of them. I am sending this to my daughter to whom I could never have said "I love you" nearly so well.
