1914-2014

They gathered the great and the good

On the Royal Esplanade Ramsgate

The Queen of course was represented

The local Member of Parliament

The local Councillors District

Parish Councillors to

The Chere of the Royal British legion with all the medals

Pined on the chest

Representatives of the C & E , R C the Jewish Synagogue

The Islamic Mosque represented stood side beside them all

Speeches made by them as standard

To give thanks give honer to the glories dead

They all stood looking full of pomp Mayor in regular

Then the fife and drums band of the local Regiment struck up

Playing songs of World War One

The march past started behind the band the veterans the survivors

Of wars long a go and of wars more recent times

Then the scouts , army cadets , sea cadets the air training core

The mach passed was over

Look not unlike how it must of looked in August 1914

Stan Cooper The PoetBay support member heart!
Isn't sad that so often we honor people after they've gone and
died patriotically with so many of them having been ignored
while still alive
