Song

The only bird singing
is the one that has a song
to express

may be for longing of the spring,
or the happiness of it's memory

the only bird singing songs is
the one that has an expression
to make

may it be of the drought in summer
or of the longing after
the cool autumn

The one bird that is really singing
not the other bird
that seeks a mate

But the one bird
that seeks for others

other things, another time
a way away from

I know why the cagebird sings ...
it's because
of struggle

Interesting structure and variations on the lines about birds singing. As spring arrives I love to hear the birds outside--they expand my world and I'm reminded that the universe contains more than just us. As you point out, there could be a thousand reasons why they sing, but I'm glad they do. It's hard to imagine a world without birdsong.

So many moods, so many songs, you caught that in your poem. Very nicely written.
