Glass Shadows

Because I don't want to
Need to, have to
I love you,
Because I can let it all go
Wherever, whenever
However it has to go
I don't have to,
Because I have lived so long
The past is new again
Seeing the years as but sad, tender
Windowpanes through
Which to watch the seasons pass with care
If we should choose moments just to share
The sky so blue,
Maybe that is why I
Am able to love you
Need to, have to
Because I don't want to
Because,
I can let it all go...

No, I had it wrong... It's not looking out the window to the past, but it's looking at life through windows tinted by the past, perhaps with a sad knowing.

Beautifully written. The title is perfect. And the shadowing of the words in an almost fragile way, and the imagery of looking out the window into the past, knowing the present is worth it no matter what comes... I love this one.
