A Rant. I was in technology for over 40 years and helped to build the Internet, sometimes I wish I had not. What has happened to face to face communication? We did not mean this to happen.

et patati et patata

I walk to town
most people are staring down
not at the floor
but at
their mobiles phones
texting
talking
sometimes
both
"I am in the the Post Office"
"I am on the bus"
"I am on the train"
"I am on the toilet"
"I am at the shops"
Ignoring all around them
seeing nothing
*BANG*
A lamp post...

+++++ Stars +++++

Nobody notices...
To busy with trivia.

hihi I loved the last line!!! About the lamp post, does it accentuate that living inside your words doesn't make you safer from what is right in front of you? Although when you speak/write to yours friends, you keep living inside the bubble your friendship creates and don't risk the chance to meet eyes that scare you or make you feel how you really feel? :) Hm, if that's the truth one should also try to communicate with strangers on the net as well :) Thank you for your thought provoking poem:)!

It boggles the mind and your words are perfectly in line with my observations.

PS: the title always strikes a childhood comptine that goes like this

Et patati,
Et patata,
Petite patate,
Tant pis pour toi!

Seems fitting for the walk-in-the-lamp-posts types. :)

I wrote poems for forty years before anyone saw them. I'm a fan of the internet. Thanks for your contribution to it. I think the lamppost takes care of those who lose themselves in it.
