Absolution.

Is there depth in absolution?
From that which isn't mine
Is there freedom for the victim?
From the guilt that masks the crime

Is there justice for the soul that cries
For redemption from the past?
That struggles through confrontation
In innocence now passed

Demons dog the darkest hour
Seeking freedom in the light
Yet linger in the shadows
Delighting in your fright

Will the shroud that wraps the conscious
Fall in tatters to the ground
In seeking absolution
Can a new life still be found?

Teala
I think there is absolution..there is a peace in repenting. Great poem.

to write such as this, one has experienced the deepest, darkest, desolation of the soul. Death of our loved ones through tragedy pierces our hope, takes away our innocence, and leaves us empty of answers. I empathize! Kathy

one can only hope.

flawless rhyme, there's depth.. it's good....

i also like the sound of the line demons dog the darkest hour, it's a nice use of alliteration.

awesome :)

Graham...welcome back dear friend to the bay...you have been missed.

What can I say about this write...it is powerful and intense! It is like all your writes, deeply thoughtful and comtemplative....rich in conviction.

Excellent

Very powerful As far as conscience-ness it took me a while to get that spelling down as well. It almosts reads like a very deep dark Roy Orbison song, just send chills on your skin thinking about the images.
