A Distant Near

It was late in a certain year
On a lazy afternoon one day
As I lay abed feeling the time moving slow,
Thinking of one who was not near
Feeling the sunlight fading away
Waiting for angel wings to appear in the snow,
it was later than the forecasters predicted
So far past that either of us were to ever know
Those things in life which are never quite corrected
Just the river's banks holding fast to the past time flow,
One day late in a certain year
Daydreaming on a lazy afternoon
Waiting for starlight to appear
As close as you arriving just as soon
One always so distant and near.

Soup in the Sand
I found this quite captivating, familiar, and strangely very sad. I am entranced by the images and thoughts evoked here. "Feeling the sunlight fading away" and "Waiting for the starlight to appear" were lines that I found especially ptent with feeling for me. Superb write, must read it again, now. Best wishes,

Autumn Jade
