One good thing about football, when it hits you feel the pain...

Footy

the Blues of football
the Jazz of football
I love them both
for the blatantly obvious reasons

some teams have great riffs
occasionally they play
with transcendental intensity
a John Lee Hooker stomp
embellished with nicely timed licks

a competent groove
a star or two with
stage presence

but in the final analysis
one cannot rely on charisma
or the pretensions
of the English working classes

some teams epitomise
physical Be-Bop
solid rhythmic unity at the back
moving as a unit
reading and rereading the flow

always ready
to change tempo
and move quickly to the inside

chops move seamlessly
bass baritone tenor
a long pass forward
the striker takes command

the solo finds it's apex
in well earned
brilliant fertility

John Ashleigh
I admire the link between music and football. It is certainly original and rather expressive. I love the reference to John Lee Hooker. Genius, really. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Regards,
John.
