Erato had been leaving me alone these many months, until a couple days ago, a revelation:

Vision of Heaven

Picture a first-rate party, unending,
At which every single guest
Is perpetually surprised, and delighted,
To have been invited.

Finally, a heaven people would really want to aspire to. Milton and Dante should take note. Enough already with all the pearly gates and harp-playing and gazing at celestial light shows. Traditional concepts of heaven suggested that only a select few would be allowed admission, the A-list of all A-lists--sounds like your host welcomes all of us who for whatever reason didn't think ourselves deserving of happiness.

I will probably not be on the guest list but I hope they have fun :)

That sounds exactly right. No one knows for sure if they've made the guest list.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
my vision of heaven is an evening at home, without assignment, without worry, watching "project runway." your vision, though, is inspired by a muse, mine is simply wishful thinking.

the simplicity of your poem is also inspired. as john says, you paint a world.

The title says it all. You are the king of metaphors. Love it!

Yes that truly sounds like Heaven,
"Perpetually surprised and delighted" what more could one want:)

John Ashleigh
A very clever extended metaphor. You certainly paint a picture. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Regards,
John.
