1 - Madam in reflective mood

Après Midi

Garden City is busy
the people, hustle and bustle
Madam waters her plants
watching the throng below.
It is not quite Midday
but she sips
from her glass.
Her balcony is compact
yet it is her garden
and this afternoon
she will sit
and contemplate her feet.
No, she is not sad
she has resignation and
this afternoon she will listen
to lovers in clandestine games
she will smile,
reminisce,
pat down her skirt
over ample thighs
and recall
before

Après Midi

It is so joyful, so melodic, so good!

Parts of the past were nice. Today is nice, too. I love those little balcony gardens. Here in the US, balconies are used to store junk which won't fit inside of the home.

This is a nice introduction to Madam. I don't find it sad. Whatever she may be remembering is real and part of her history. It can't be taken away. I like that about my own life, and I like it for her.

This is vivid, and "ample" is a satisfying word on many levels.

This, to me, seems like a poem about a painting, the images are very vivid. And even though Madam isn't sad, I would be. But maybe her before is better than mine.
