Alice Wore

They say Alice wore her ruby slippers
Chasing Peter down the rabbit hole
Was black as knight reverse sunlight
Sunset boulevard or some other role,

She was chanteuse lace and Dore face
Sotto voce, so out of breath
Smoking Childhoods death in purple pipes
Her hands were gloved, her truth unloved
Turning to the left, picking only grapes,

They say Alice stole her Mummy's drapes
The invisible woman with a seraphim star forehead
Locked them in a drawer with Papas tapes
Smoking borrowed cigarettes and other things for hire instead,

Of;

Sunset boulevard or some other role
Was black as knight reverse sunlight
Chasing Peter down the rabbit hole
They say Alice wore her ruby slippers . .
