To Night

The rain was slanting at an angle to Night
So much was wanting for a moment of Light

Gray drops falling along with ghosts aside a pier
Voices calling in song for someone never near

Held close inside warm as a whisper and as frail
As Hope released upon an empty sea to sail

Pale letters in a box breaking words upon the rocks

So much wanting for a moment
Of Light
The rain was slanting at an angle
To Night
