Facing Us
Facing us in the falling lightSmiling through our fingertips
A butterfly blush was on your cheek
Scorpion stings on your lips
Ultra violet in the night
Was offering me a little peek
A wild winter was breaking into the thaw
Wolves were shedding ermine furs and pearls
So we shed ours, what we had, and ran outside
My hand in yours, not too bad, it's where we hide
Melting away, held you close, beyond the law
Was holding up the sky, purrs and curls
Around these forms we wear and have worn
Forever, for now, or so it merely appears
Dancing for curtain calls, singing for all these years
Dying to laugh at last words are torn
Promises wrapped in paper bright
Ultra violet in the night
Facing us in the falling light
