and being taken back and having to stumble and fall
I saw the defined arms stretching and clawing in my direction to tear me apart --
but I breathed new life into this tired body and refused to make myself small
I dragged along, just half of who I used to be
When I found my eyes, they were glazed over and bloodshot red --
I thought to myself, "How strange, what has happened to me?"
And the eyes shed a tear and said, "My boy, you beat death"
And with a freshly drawn outlook, I saw the world in only red and black hues
Everyone just as bloody as I was, and I knew they were not to be trusted
Betrayal had left such a sour taste that I was sure everyone left their bruises
When they saw what they had done, they knew I had been corrupted
But in the overrun wildflower fields, I saw my teeth buried like seeds
They were pointed and sharp, little arrowheads for gnashing and biting
I thought to myself, "How strange, what has happened to me?"
and the teeth cut the inside of my cheeks like barbed wire and told me to, "Keep smiling"
But hanging from the tallest tree next to an old tire swing --
was my broken heart just barely pumping
I thought to myself, "How strange, what has happened to me?"
It started to skip beats before saying, "They've even tainted your memories"

will of instinct
It happened somewhere between the ritual dagger being twisted inside of meand being taken back and having to stumble and fall
I saw the defined arms stretching and clawing in my direction to tear me apart --
but I breathed new life into this tired body and refused to make myself small
I dragged along, just half of who I used to be
When I found my eyes, they were glazed over and bloodshot red --
