Things I Don't Notice

I don't notice how Dean Amy's glasses
coruscate with Princetonian sagacity.
I don't notice how well Jennifer's hands
play the maracas and the tambourine.
I don't notice how Christie's birkenstocks
contain the Gospels, the Law, and the Prophets.
I don't notice how a glass of cold water
after four cups of coffee
is October after the parch and scorch of summer.
