she still has her baby teeth

"Womanhood –", her mother says "starts with blood"
She wondered how she became a woman in a day
- when she still has baby teeth in her mouth
and stuffed tissues under her blouse

"Men are like sharks, they'll smell you from a mile away"
They will tell you how grown up you act,
because they themselves have never changed
They'll use you because they know better; innocence is what they crave

A heavy secret became a heavy load
A round belly on an eleven year old
A choice much bigger than her fragile frame
Life grows inside her as she disintegrates

Her state has no empathy or exceptions
After a few years of good behavior,
her groomer says he's learned his lesson
- but she'll be a mother for the rest of her life
