The Sphinx and The Ants
A column of ants crossing a vast golden desert stop before an objectLooming far overhead the figure of a gigantic sphinx
Brings the tiny army to a dead halt
"Pray let us pass Sir Sphinx says the head of the line of little ones"
"All that is about you is my dominion, I own it all including your like,"
says The Grand Sphinx in a voice like roaring winds of molten brass
"Yet I allow you passage, for now, as it amuses me to observe such struggles."
"Oh thank you Sir Sphinx" replied the tiny spokesant
"Upon which side shall we pass, right or left?"
"Right or Left...Right or Left" said the Great Sphinx
"It matters so little as to matter not at all which side you choose for passage,
In my all seeing eyes, your feeble motions are as the stillness of dead leaves
when the wind has died and the world tires without breath to spare."
So the ants presumed and resumed their way, not comprehending the true nature
Of their Fate.
