Beautiful

i should pause long

before using that shopworn adjective

to describe a human being
in any poem i'm writing

unless i make it plain i mean to praise
her Voice      her Spirit      her Power

I have found myself on occasion employing this word to poetry and literature but not as a go to but rather when the emotion has been elicited and allowed to soar, beauty in that sense. And yes, never toward any outward and surface aesthetic.
