looked like a cracked open clear quartz geode
with glittering shades grey and white
At times, it was as if someone was on the other side
Fogging it up like the most beautiful mirror
just to write with their frigid fingertips to show they were here
Just above, icicles that looked like ragged, sharp teeth
hung from the mountainside
and bled small droplets of cold water
black ice on neglected ridge roads
everything under a foot of crunchy snow
and though I can see my breath, I wouldn't dare go back home

hell's frozen over
That creek, frozen at it's sideslooked like a cracked open clear quartz geode
with glittering shades grey and white
At times, it was as if someone was on the other side
Fogging it up like the most beautiful mirror
just to write with their frigid fingertips to show they were here
Just above, icicles that looked like ragged, sharp teeth
hung from the mountainside
and bled small droplets of cold water

and though I can see my breath, I wouldn't dare go back home
