Forlorn Place

You could be born into a forlorn place

Learn to put on a face to wear a suit and tie

Maybe even lace a shoe or two

Speak in circus code, go to school, learn how to lie

Or not to do so, so easy to fail others and yourself

When you don't know for what or how to try,

Forget to count the numbers race

You could be born into a forlorn place

Yes, I also liked the rhyme and the structure; how 'forlorn place' bookmarked the poem to give added emphasis. A good one!

A really nice piece, this. The rhyming is pleasing, and the words encourage the reader's mind to exemplify and extend into the imagery of One's own life, Nice one.
