A half-dozen short-shorts of the 17-syllable variety, from 2010. (A friend of mine who is fluent in Japanese and who has lived in Japan has told me that these are not, strictly speaking, haiku.)

Three-Liners

      Autumn afternoon --
in the cool, dark chapel a
      single candle glows.

            *

      Look! The branches of
these sturdy, ancient trees are
      blossoming -- with snow!

            *

      Yesteryear's verses --
racing horses, strong and fierce!
      Now our words stumble.

            *

      Winter moonlight, cold
and pure as hundred-proof gin,
      goes down like water.

            *

      Poet sleeps and dreams
of the perfect line. Wakes up
      and forgets the words.

            *

      Cold Sunday morning --
sun shines on the golden cross
      of the small Greek church.

Perhaps not traditional haiku, but they are gentle, thoughtful poems, each with a memorable image.

Ooh I like these, they are like powershots of poetry, a quick fix for the reader to ingest and then allow to reach all poetry parched parts. Although, it is evident they are definately very considered. My favourite, for what it counts, is Yesteryear's verses.
