The Summering Earth

during a thunderstorm

the summering earth

silent and expectant

replenishes with rain

and where is the historian

whose pen shall commemorate

her green and teeming victory

Beautifully written.. I’m thankful that you chose to be that historian.

It makes me remember a time when I argued with a lady over what truly constitutes a miracle. She believed that even life itself is not a miracle, that birth was a commonplace event. Whether seemingly commonplace or not, I believe we’re surrounded by miracles. We just have to open our eyes.
