Twilight of Love

We stand on the bank of the river,
Gazing far into the horizon,
Each deep in his respective thoughts

Sunsets
On the twilight of our relationship…

Departing sun reflects in your eyes
The pain of our tormented years:
Your face- ashen gray
Your eyes- death of hope-
Alive only to the realization of
A love no more…

Silent words flow back and forth
Between us
All is said and done
Everything is understood

Yet, so much unsaid,
So much unexplained,
Yet, the anguished pain…

We, the companion of the spring,
At the autumn of our relationship,
Are, strangers still…

We turn to each other-
our eyes meet-
Yet, we do not speak:
Futility of words shrieks…

I swallow the lump in my throat,
My eyes burn with unshed tears,
The vessels, emptied, over the years…

The water slowly flows down the river,
Reminiscent of our bygone years…

Sun sinks in the horizon,
Witness to our bleak farewell…

We part and slowly go our ways
Never to meet again…

And
With you goes a part of me
With you dies a part of me
Never to live again…

Why not! I exclaim in my head. This poem deserves comment... deserves the expressed admiration of a fellow poet even though you posted this so many years ago. It has remained silent of comment for all this time, I want to break that silence. Fabulous poetry, Zoya. Fabulous. Blessings, Allen

So poignant, sad and brilliantly written.
"We, the companion of the spring,
At the autumn of our relationship,
Are, strangers still..."

Wow, wow and wow again!

Zoya, there is a beauty in the sadness. It happens this way because of your poetic heart. It is the expression, the flow, the movement of your emotions, the feelings that you evoke that work in harmony to create this poem. Your soul sings. love you, Zoya. Kathy

A V. TOUCHING POEM WITH A LIVID DESCRIPTION. IT'S SO SAD TO SUFFER FROM HEARTBREAKS. SOME PEOPLE WHEN GO, LEAVE A VOID BEHIND WHICH REFUSES TO FILL UP.
FULL MARKS TO THIS ONE!

Wow Zoya, you describe the setting of this loves sun so succinctly that the imagery just screams regret and distress that every reader will be able to identify with from some time in their lives for sure. Excellent putting to bed. I feel for you, but one door closes, you know the rest. Everything is for a reason. We have to hold that thought. Smiling at you, Tai

Beautiful dying love.

If it's something I've learned of loved ones gone it is that the parts of them inside you never die, they grow to become small entities of love, all alive in themselves.

Excellent write!
