Sometimes, it seems, that the storms in our lives feed upon us, growing stronger, as we grow weaker. We must fight against them in order to survive.

Fight The Wind

Fight the wind

as it blows destruction
whipping your sanctuary into pieces
that cut and rip until you bleed black
upon the quaking ground that once
held you sound in your life.

Fight the wind

as it hurls stones
against your body beating it into
a broken mass of bones and flesh
swirling in a poisonous potion that
penetrates, annihilates all sanity
until death is your only friend.

Fight the wind

as it pulls life
apart from its stronghold tearing
away the last covering of salvation
leaving exposed the raw soars
that ooze without a cure giving
strength to the demon vortex

Fight the wind

until the storm passes
until the sun shines
until life renews itself

Fight the wind.

Oh dear sister, you have written such power! I will come fight it with you anytime at all. You come fight it with me when I need you. And when one of us cannot fight the other will! When it blows against the family we will crawl on our very bones if we have been defleshed by the wind, and fight as skeletons to defend our loved ones. We will not be defeated!

Great!! A universal theme (the human being who struggles against adversities), here presented in a wonderfully strong and personal way!

Kathy as a living survivor of many trials and tribulations I know what you are saying is true!!!
I am a fighter....and it took the hardest and darkest days of my life to discover I was one...and it was one of the greatest lessons I have ever been taught..to survive and not give up. Sometimes we just don't know what we are made of until we meet the wind. Wonderfully written from your personal soul.

I liked this, not so typical of what i have read so far. I have some suggestions for your first stanza. I wopuld have written them like this:

as it blows destruction
whipping sanctuary into pieces
that cut and rip until you bleed black
upon the quaking ground that once
held the sound in your life.

But that is me.
Take care!
