On having loved and lost with hope for another chance sometime before. . .

Sonnet 107 Love's Labor's Cost

The endless flow of life from birth to death
as constant, ceaseless, certain as the sun
engenders endless search with steady breath
for one with whom to share that breath as one.

False stars like meteoric ash expire,
their quest for Eden lost in empty space,
each flash explosive burst of loving fire
extinguished as another took its place.

But just as hope that love will bloom anew
flows from my heart and soul in poetry,
it fades away, another loving you,
turned with my words to him instead of me.

But fields replete with pollen fill the air
more flowers still in bloom, those just as fair.
