Mourning
MourningShe sits there on the shore of the lake
Swans and children swim by
The warm Sun hides behinds wispy clouds
She sings silently to a song played far away
It was their song
She knew all the words
But he was not there to sing it with her
People in love walk by hand in hand
Some kiss
Others stop and look into each other's eyes
She just sits
The clouds cannot take the stars from her eyes
The smile she always had with him has faded
She knows he would not want to see her like that
She dreams
Her mind wanders
Wondering what might have been
If only he had said no when they asked
If only she had told him how she felt before he left
If only she had given him her love
Maybe if they had kissed the day he left
Things may have been different
She cried the day he left but he never knew
She was his all of his life but he never knew
She hold a bible and an American flag between her hands
Her eye looking toward heaven
Eyes water
She cries softly
She says goodbye to a love who died a world and a lifetime away
But he will never know.
