The Nap
in the shadows, 'neath the willows,
along the banks of the flowing stream
sadness lies here, gladness dies here
as the lady wakes from here dream
in her sleeping, she was keeping
ballroom dances fit for a queen
fancy dresses, soft caresses
a magical fairytale scene
upon her waking, her soul shaking
trembling like the cold rippling brook
tattered pages, words of ages
spoken from a poetry book
left her pining while reclining
drifting off into fantasy
a simple lass of lower class
escaping from her misery
over yonder, thoughts did wander
for a life she so oft beseeched
a nap stolen by this maiden
a way for this life to be reached
