This poem (story) came from a mind painting. The aritist is me. The canvas-- my imagination.

The Nap

in the shadows, 'neath the willows,
along the banks of the flowing stream
sadness lies here, gladness dies here
as the lady wakes from here dream

in her sleeping, she was keeping
ballroom dances fit for a queen
fancy dresses, soft caresses
a magical fairytale scene

upon her waking, her soul shaking
trembling like the cold rippling brook
tattered pages, words of ages
spoken from a poetry book

left her pining while reclining
drifting off into fantasy
a simple lass of lower class
escaping from her misery

over yonder, thoughts did wander
for a life she so oft beseeched
a nap stolen by this maiden
a way for this life to be reached

An astonishing poem! It tells a tale so real and captivating. I was taking that nap and I became that girl. It was incredible how affected I was reading this! bookmarked this one!

I think as poets we have to dream - dreams of joy and sadness - our imaginations our boundless and they are like visions in our heads - beautifully soft and sad

"sadness lies here, gladness dies here"

So sad.... but then fantasy-daydreaming-land can be a helpful place to escape to.....

Excellent and touching writing here , Kathy. I was truly moved.

I cane across a beautiful quote today,
It was something like this:
'Hold on to your dreams,
If the dreams go
There nothing left
Life is cold like snow'

So, dream away my dear Soul Sistah, because:

'Life is where dreams are...'
This is a quote, I just made up for you! lol!

(((Hugs Kathy)))
