For Unelected President George W. Bush
Do you ever think of the people you have killedYoung men and women
Wanting a future
Serving a country they love
They swore their lives
To protect this land
To keep us safe
They never wanted to fight a war
For a people who hate them
To help those who kill the people standing next to them
Young men and women
The same as them
With the same love of country
The same faith in you as their leader
They never knew you would lie to them
They never thought you would turn on them
They were yours to protect
Day after day they die
Defending your lies
Does your thought remind you of them
Do your ears hear their screams
Do your eyes see the widows and orphans
Crying beside flag draped coffins
Husbands and fathers lost
Their spirits forever wandering Persian sands
They wander and wonder
Why you sent them to their deaths
In a war that never concerned us
Except to finish what your father could not do
At least he knew when to bring our people home
He cared
