Dreams that Sing
When muscles ache and bones are tired
I would love to sit by a roaring fire
Heating up my body and toasting my toes
My weary face will catch the glow
Lying there before the hearth
I'd close my eyes and let the dreams start--
I'm sailing away on a cloud made of cotton
Over seas and trees with worries forgotten
Soaring in angelic arms with majestic wings
I float and listen to the heaven's sing,
"Rest dear one and let the earth drift away
The stars will guide you as you sway
Through the galaxy on past the restful moon
Nothing to do but to enjoy this lullaby tune."
And when the fire starts to die down
I'd awaken to find I'm back on the ground
Lying in front of an ash-filled chamber
Thankful for a dream to e'er remember
A dream that brought me such a peace
I'd get up and put on my gown fleece
Find my way to my comfy quilted bed
And there I'd lay down and rest my head
And as I drift off to sleep again
I start the dream and hear them sing,
"Rest dear one and let the earth drift away
The stars will guide you as you sway
Through the galaxy on past the restful moon
Nothing to do but to enjoy this lullaby tune."
