Dreams XVIII
dancing through my dreams
an owl's hoot resounding clear
and the talons of an egret
scratch my skin thus drawing fear
a soft-breasted chirpy magpie
nibbles slowly on my chin
feathers tickling an orange earlobe
as a form of parrots swarm on in
the great vulture then in turn
drags me slow across its nest
flying sudden up to the sky
then returning to my chest
the symbol of this feast of fowl
shifts in balance from dark to free
as I'm reminded by these strange dream birds
of a way that I can be
