Simple Joys

I spent so long trying to run away from this world

I forgot
that

it's really so beautiful
even while it cries out in pain
even when I watch people wasting their life away
even as my life beats me to my knees

One real, true smile
One sip of delicious hot chocolate
One glimpse of that beautiful sunset
One breath of fresh, mountain air

and my heart cries out for this world
and all of it's beauty

I don't want to run
anymore

We all search for the secret of life lived truly and well . . . you've not only found it but expressed it beautifully.

Irrepressive joy at the wonders of the world seems to flourish in the worst of times like a small flower bursting through a crack in concrete, if only we give ourselves the freedom to risk feeling and seeing it it. Great poetry!

Thanks for reminding me.

The epiphany of the secrets laid out around us. This world in all its glory - both bad and good. A spiritual plane of things forgotten, and remembered. This was a brilliant write - keep your chin up, and keep writing.

Your friend,
John.
