this watery path off the road I should be traversing
So enticing
so real
so full of those things that draw me near
He stands beckoning me
His words speaking of a harsh and cruel truth
yet I take his hand
for my heart ties to what she loves, not whom
for I cannot keep myself back from this creature I recognize
Out of my fingers slip the double-bladed idea of perfection
the One
the cuts it made healing in the soothing waters of this path
I unveil myself before him
leave my beating heart open and singing
knowing my blood will be floating on this path
this path I cannot name
this path that should not exist
were it not for the destructive cold of another woman's heart
I shiver
yet my heart still beats

Short Cuts
I dip my toes inthis watery path off the road I should be traversing
So enticing
so real
so full of those things that draw me near
He stands beckoning me
His words speaking of a harsh and cruel truth
yet I take his hand
for my heart ties to what she loves, not whom
for I cannot keep myself back from this creature I recognize
Out of my fingers slip the double-bladed idea of perfection
the One
the cuts it made healing in the soothing waters of this path
I unveil myself before him
leave my beating heart open and singing
knowing my blood will be floating on this path
this path I cannot name
this path that should not exist
were it not for the destructive cold of another woman's heart
I shiver
yet my heart still beats
