Watching the Doves

They are beautiful
perfect
and I am happy for them
for him

They prove that being picky, idealistic and steadfast
pays off
the One exists

and I was in the way
- all the time telling myself he "just was like that" or "needed it to be that way", all the excuses
and all along
I was the problem
- not right, not the One, yet ever so loved

He found her
and I don't ever want him back

But I gave everything I had
and he got the fairytale ending

I got my life back

and a treasure of a poem
a life-long apology
closure

"If I broke your dreams, know that your dreams are dust in the face of the plan He has for you, noble, gentle, sweet and dear one that's meant for greater things than to keep me sane"

Yet some nights..
I still feel a little bitter

just a little..

Happy and a little bitter seem like the right emotions to feel. You really conveyed your feelings well in this poem.
