Dichotomy
I've carried my scars proudlyI've carried them lightly
Quick to want to tell my story
Quicker to insist it is nothing
and leave my load
safely upon my shoulders
He never asks
and if he does
it's never him
I struggle to leave this carefully constructed illusion
behind me
this notion that what I'd rather call friendship
warrants exclusive and mutual over-attachment
bound to become destructive
I struggle
and you only look at me and deem me unfree
controlling and afraid of my emotions
I struggle
and you want to set me free
by tying me to the very notions that cage me
