the fall of civilization

do you remember when
we use to walk upon the surface of the sun?
do you remember when
we use to let the flames dance upon our fingers,
not afraid to get burned?
do you remember when
the sun was the only home we ever knew,
so long ago?
do you remember so long ago?

our bodies are weak and pale now
we cannot even approach the moon now -
oh, land of the rising moon,
why are you so far off?

in the land where the sun never rises,
people do not believe in daylight,
their bodies are weak and pale,
would not be able to tolerate the light of day
should the sun happen to ever rise
