Past

Is it fair
for a dying star to refuse
Its shine to the sky,
once avidly obliged
 deny even a farewell shimmer
An ode to the companionship
of times bygone?
Are the laws of vengeance so cruel,
The wanton hatred so maddening
So as to make  past,
A mere transition.

How selfish, one would think, to refuse to shine. The reasons must hold a clue to her behavior. The hatred and anger should be released with time and a shimmer of light will return. Lovely poem.
