A Pier

Walk until you reach the end of a pier
Peer into the horizons bow, string thoughts on a line
Unfurl blank sails to winding winds and rampart waves know
The sea is all around your island retreat mirage repeats itself
Just as things appear below are ways, mysterious grades of light
Lives burning through the fingers of an eternal hand opening
Ways into you always knew would be one day so near
Walk until you reach the end of a pier

"Lives burning through the fingers of an eternal hand opening"
Beautiful image.
A pessimistic reading tells me all we can do is stand alone on our individual islands and peer into the deep unknown. A more optimistic interpretation is that there is always hope for new ways, if you have the courage to walk until the end of a pier. I prefer the last one, I think.
