Fighting a war since birth just to live simply to be,
Warring with demons wearing faces you know
Expecting light, expecting love tuned to the trees and the stars
Receiving darkness, tragic horror from those supposed to care
Trials of body, soul and mind are far from fair in this world to the small,
So easy for crazed brute selfishness of larger ones to hurt and steal
The dreams you tried so hard to cherish and keep in battered hands,
Hold to the end of the path your heart above the tumultuous fray
Stray arrows with poisoned points always return to strike the attacker
Some day the tables turn, a light switches on, eyes open, the dead
Return to Life,
Where have you been ragged spirit once lost to the grave?
