Just like fingers on the fly, like light will
And not stand still, until at last the time
Subsides once more into back tides and slides
Like waterfalls of dying stars into Nights pool
Where all good dreams must rest at last
The day was bright at first, then past
All remembrance
Just a fragrance,
(Where spirits swim like swans through bars of shadowed cool)
Like someones lovely smile
Where constellations pile,
Deeply wrought needlepoint, jet dark, satin skies
In incensed candlelight I thought to seek your eyes,
Without reason or hope to try
Because the years will wander by . . .
