I TOUCH YOUR BOOTS
I kneel at the foot of your battlefield crossSoldiers dealing with a brother's loss
Dog tags in hand, tears down my face
I know you are in a much better place
I touch your boots and say goodbye
Bow my head, and ask God why
Hand on my shoulder a gentle squeeze
Winds begin to blow, a gentle breeze
I know your protecting us from above
Your sacrifice gives your family something to be proud of
You are standing at heaven's gate
I wish we could end the violence and hate
I touch your boots one last time to say goodbye
A brother's hug as I cry
I will never forget you my friend
One day, we will meet again
