Cafe Memoir
Remembering our fall and a promise never kept
They played our music in those little sidewalk cafes
The old wooden dance floor strewn with violets and light
stirring dust from melancholy corners of the room
wearing your dress of champagne campaigns and gloom
No one and nothing could stop me from trying to fly to you
Somewhere a sky so blue was calling and I loved it all so
far to go so hard to stay where these empty moments slept
alone and wandering into the stony morning nights where
They played our music in those little sidewalk cafes
Remembering our fall promises never kept . . .
